About This Password Generator

The ByteTony Password Generator helps you create strong, random passwords and passphrases without sending them to a server. You can control the length, choose character types, exclude specific characters, use presets, or generate several passwords at once.

The strength, entropy, and estimated crack-time indicators are provided as helpful estimates. Actual security depends on how a password is used, stored, and protected.

How to Use the Password Generator

Choose Password or Passphrase mode, adjust the available options, and select Generate Password. You can then copy the result directly to your clipboard.

If a website does not accept certain symbols, use Exclude specific characters instead of disabling symbols completely.

For accounts you want to protect carefully, use a unique password for every service and avoid reusing the same password across multiple websites.

Password or Passphrase?

A random password is useful when you plan to save it in a password manager.

A passphrase uses several randomly selected words, making it easier to read or type while still providing strong security when enough words are used. ByteTony uses at least six words in Passphrase mode.

Understanding Password Strength

Longer, randomly generated passwords are generally harder to guess. The tool estimates password strength using factors such as length and the available character pool.

The displayed Estimated Entropy and Estimated Time to Crack are only estimates. They should not be treated as guarantees, because real attack speeds and security conditions can vary.

Keep Your Passwords Secure

A strong password is most useful when it is also unique. Avoid sending passwords through messages or storing them in unprotected text files.

A password manager can securely store unique passwords so you do not need to remember each one. Read the ByteTony guide to setting up a password manager safely for a simple step-by-step explanation.

Using a unique password for every important account also reduces the damage if one website is ever compromised.
